This piece was created following a visit to Paris and was influenced by the aesthetics and romance of the city. The festival of Hanuka celebrates the light that conquers the darkness, the bright flame that sheds warmth in the cold of winter, and the miracle of optimism. It is traditional to display the lit Hanukia upon the windowsill, sharingits glow with passer-byers. The rough black iron and shiny sterling silver contrast and complement each other, and are reminiscent of casement bars on grand French windows entwined with flowering greenery.
